Indigenous Smoking Ceremony

On Monday, St Brendan’s began the new year with an indigenous smoking ceremony. We were grateful to have guests attend to help conduct the ceremony or to just participate.
A smoking ceremony is an ancient aboriginal custom where leaves from native trees are burnt to produce smoke, which is believed to have cleansing properties used to pave the way for a brighter future.
It was an uplifting experience and one we will continue to celebrate each year.
